The Forest School at Combe Martin

This beautiful site at Combe Martin, just a few miles from the stunning North Devon coast and a few miles from Barnstaple, was taken on by The Outdoors Group in 2021.

As a site that has been enjoyed by the community for several years under its former title ‘Quarry Fields Forest School’ we wanted to do all we could to ensure the site continued to offer the learning and adventure opportunities we believe in. After a period of trialling different sessions, from September 2022, we have now reached a fantastic cooperative solution with the incredible Sarah Tawse who is taking on term time provision (including her very popular toddlers sessions) under her CIC (Community Interest Company), Wild Nurture CIC. The Outdoors Group will continue to run Holiday Clubs in school holidays, Birthday Parties on request, and School Group sessions on request.

A relatively young woodland site that lends itself perfectly to Forest School, this site consists of willow, birch and hazel encompassed by surrounding mighty oaks. Running through the woodland is a little gem of a natural spring that pools to create a perfectly relaxing little spot for water play and exploration. Another fantastic feature this site offers is a meadow area and is a treasure trove for nature observation due to the flora and fauna that thrives here. We are delighted to be part of the continued presence of young people on this site, playing, exploring, discovering and learning in the great outdoors.
