This role is two pronged focusing on both Employer Brand and Internal communications. This is
an incredible opportunity to shape the The Outdoors Groups’ Employer Brand through various
digital media channels and increase engagement with employees by developing and implementing
an internal communications plan.

We’re looking for someone who will generate excitement and interest in our brand as an employer!

Working as part of the marketing and communications team, you will work closely with the HR
team and the Head of Marketing and Communications in positioning The Outdoors Group as an
employer of choice across a multitude of channels, supporting the induction process and raising
staff awareness of key business priorities and our company Mission and Values.

You will support our recruitment marketing and employer branding effort and work in partnership with the rest of the marketing and communications team and our external digital marketing agency who will support with strategy, content creation and scheduling. The role is considered hybrid, covering both home and office working centred around your own lifestyle, whilst balancing any business need to be in the office.

Main duties and responsibilities

  • Create and deliver internal communications plan to increase company wide engagement, identifying and developing ways to improve internal staff communications. Ensuring there is a good line of communication between senior leaders and all other staff.
  • Contribute to our employer brand strategy. This includes but is not limited to; content strategy and creation across multiple channels including the company website and social media channels; particularly our presence on Linked In as an employer of choice
  • Working closely with PR, marketing, and the content officer to align brand messaging and ensure we are ‘One TOG’, continually reviewing existing materials.
  • Devise and deliver accurate, timely, creative and engaging communications that have a positive impact on the flow of information to all business areas. Including the compilation and distribution of the internal staff newsletters, writing and editing content, arranging photography and design, managing the internal communications inbox.
  • Using WordPress to ensure the company intranet remains up to date and relevant.
  • Providing advice and guidance to staff on use of the company branding and identity.

You are expected to be aware of and adhere to all policies and procedures for The Outdoors Group.

Skills, Knowledge & Experience


  • Solid working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to craft clear, concise, jargon-free communications, translating data and information from a wide variety of sources into persuasive, digestible copy.
  • Basic experience of Adobe Photoshop/Canva or equivalent design package. Having a good eye for design and attention to detail, with basic design skills.
  • Experience enhancing candidate communication and collateral and social media marketing
  • Ability to communicate accurately and effectively in verbal and written English
  • Highly IT literate with a particular focus on web and intranet proficiency


  • Experience of creating varied employee communications and delivering organisational and cultural change.
  • Experience working in a similar HR or employer brand role

Qualifications & Training


  • Degree level qualification or 2 years’ experience in a similar role
