The Outdoors Group Kindergarten Crediton

we're opening a new setting!

Thank you for your interest in The Outdoors Kindergarten at Crediton

After sadly closing our original forest school kindergarten in Shillingford, Exeter, after 5 years we are all very excited to be opening a new setting in Crediton during summer term 2022!

Our Forest School ethos promotes multi-sensory child-led outdoor play, encouraging and stimulating curiosity, supporting development and children’s physical awareness of the world around them. Our team believe that early education is not just about preparing children for school or home education, but about preparing them for life. Our focus is on building resilience, independence, self-confidence, nurturing creative and critical thinking and teamwork. We follow the Early Years Foundation Stage Framework which enables us to accept government funded places.

Rather than the types of toys you would imagine at an indoor nursery or preschool, we believe in using open ended toys to support imagination and creativity

These may be bug hunting and observation kits, spades and forks for digging, loose parts such as guttering, moveable obstacle course pieces, string, craft items, wood and tools for building toys like wooden animals to build dens for, or compasses for our pirates to find their way. Us in the moment planning takes us wherever the children’s imagination is busy taking them!

The Details

The Kindergarten will be open for 3 to 5 year olds 8:30am to 4pm, Monday to Friday during term time

We accept private funding, childcare vouchers and early years 15/30 hours funding. Funding is available from the term after your child’s third birthday so if your child is 3 in December, funding will be available from January. Our funded hours are available daily 9am to 3pm. For more information on 15 hours funded childcare click here and for 30 hours funding click here.

We are now taking registrations for the Summer Term 2022. Our usual procedure would be for you to complete an Expression of Interest form, we invite you to visit us on site and talk to staff then completion of enrolment forms which then sure your child’s place. However, as our site has just been purchased and was unused for over ten years, we are all very busy clearing, planning, and building! As soon as the site is ready to visit, we would love for you to come along and meet us.

To register your child for The Outdoors Kindergarten, please complete the Expression of Interest form (download PDF). We will then be in contact to discuss your needs and send out enrolment forms. Please note, we charge an enrolment fee of £25 per family. For legal reasons, we will need sight of your child’s birth certificate or passport before they may attend the setting. We are in the process of amending all our policies and procedures to our new kindergarten and these will be available soon.
