Nestled in the hills, just outside Totnes in the village of Broadhempston is The Outdoors Group’s newest site, Totnes Forest School

We offer a number of fun groups and activities for the local community, including our Tree Tots Toddler Groups for parents and little ones, Home Education groups for children aged 5 (from the September after their 5th birthday) and Holiday Clubs during the school holidays! We want to get as many children as possible into the woods to play, explore, discover and grow.

TOTNES FOREST SCHOOL MANAGER

Sarah has a background in Nursing and Social work. She is passionate about the positive effects of being and connecting with nature has on people’s well-being . When moving to Devon 10 years ago she had the privilege of working with some children in a forest school/ beach school environment and absolutely loved it. Sarah manages our Totnes Forest School site and also works as a rewilding guide and massage therapist. Outside of work Sarah loves to wild swim all year round and loves being a mum and going on adventures with her boys.

I love being site lead for The Totnes Forest School. I am passionate about outdoor learning and the need for children of all ages to connect and discover nature and the outdoors through creative, physical and exciting activities. Totnes Forest School is a wonderful diverse site which I have had the privilege of working on with children on since 2014.

Sarah Webb will be looking after our Totnes site. She’s worked in Forest Schools for many years and for the last 18 months has been working as part of our Transitional Learning Programme. She has two boys who she loves to get outside with as much as possible.

Sarah works part time for the outdoors group and also works as a rewilding guide and a massage therapist. Outside of work Sarah loves to wild swim all year round and loves being a mum and going on adventures with her boys.

For an alternative take on education, join Exmouth’s only outdoor Home Education Group every Monday during term time at our Exmouth site.

15 mins from Totnes

  1. Head out of Totnes on the A381 towards Newton Abbot. In 1.5 miles just before a bus stop turn left towards Littlehempston
  2. In 0.2 miles after going under a railway bridge and over a little bridge turn right
  3. In 0.8 miles turn right at Parsonage Lane
  4. After 1.5 miles at a T junction turn right onto HoundHead Lane
  5. In 0.2 miles Turn left onto Lower well
  6. After a mile the woodland will be on your right keep following the road straight then turn right
  7. In just 200 feet the carpark is on your right

15 mins from Newton Abbot

  1. Head out of Newton abbot on the A381 towards Totnes
  2. In 1.1 miles turn right onto Denbury road. In 2 miles turn left at the triangle and drive past The Union Inn Pub
  3. In 0.5 miles turn right at the cross roads
  4. In 0.7 miles at another cross road turn left
  5. In 0.8 miles at the Knowle cross sign post go left then immediately right towards Knowle
  6. In just 200 feet the car park is on your right

30 mins from Torquay

  1. Head out of Torquay on the A3022 towards Newton abbot
  2. Turn left onto Shiphay Lane
  3. In 0.5 miles continue straight onto Marldon Rd
  4. in 0.7 miles turn right onto Moles lane
  5. In 1 mile Turn left onto Burnthouse Hill
  6. At the T junction turn left onto Whilborough Rd
  7. in 0.5 miles turn left and then in.0.2 miles turn right into Gropers Lane
  8. In 1 mile turn left and then 0.5 miles continue straight across the A381 onto Conniford Lane
  9. In 0.3 miles turn right onto Biltor Road which turns into Orley Road and go through Ipplepen
  10. For 1.3 miles turn right and then in 0.8 miles turn right onto Lower well
  11. After a mile the woodland will be on your right keep following the road straight then turn right
  12. In just 200 feet the carpark is on your right
